چکیده

This paper presents a noise reduction technique using common-mode feedback in active CMOS mixers. The proposed decreases the noise, thus reducing common-to-differential conversion arising from mismatch and process variations. In addition, reduces sensitivity to process, voltage, temperature (PVT) variations due negative feedback. A theory is adopted analyze low-noise performance of technique. theoretical analysis validated by simulations measurements. conventional mixers are fabricated 65-nm process. Measurement results mixer operating at an RF 2.1 GHz show gain 21.5 dB, input-referred third-order intercept point (IIP3) -16.2 dBm, flicker figure 8.7 dB 10 kHz while it dissipates 3.45 mW 1.5 V supply voltage. Measurements also 10.1 kHz, without degradation other characteristics. It demonstrated that can be applied decrease phase self-oscillating (SOM) low mixer.

A Fully Balanced Pseudo-Differential OTA With Common-Mode Feedforward and Inherent Common-Mode Feedback Detector

A pseudo-differential fully balanced fully symmetric CMOS operational transconductance amplifier (OTA) architecture with inherent common-mode detection is proposed. Through judicious arrangement, the common-mode feedback circuit can be economically implemented. The OTA achieves a third harmonic distortion of 43 dB for 900 mVpp at 30 MHz. The OTA, fabricated in 0.5m CMOS process, is used to desi...

Tutorial on the double balanced mixer

Smart use of mixers is a relevant issue in radio engineering and in instrumentation design, and of paramount importance in phase noise metrology. However simple the mixer seems, every time I try to explain to a colleague what it does, something goes wrong. One difficulty is that actual mixers operate in a wide range of power (150 dB or more) and frequency (up to 3 decades). Another difficulty i...

Common mode stability in fully differential voltage feedback CMOS amplifiers

In this study consideration is made of the common mode (CM) behavior of two-stage fully differential amplifiers in voltage feedback connection. In particular, interaction between internal CMFB circuitry and the external feedback network is investigated in order to highlight a possible operating point instability condition, due to the presence of a positive feedback loop. Two alternative CMFB to...

A LOW-POWER DOUBLE BALANCED OSCILLATOR MIXER DESIGN IN 90nm CMOS TECHNOLOGY

CMOS Scaling technologies are the main caused for great impact on Analog design. The most severe affect is the reduction in the voltage supply. A double balanced down conversion oscillator mixer using 90 nm CMOS technology is proposed in this work. This oscillator mixer consists of an individual mixer stacked on a voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO). The proposed stacked structure allows entire...

A 900MHz CMOS Balanced Harmonic Mixer for Direct Conversion Receivers

A 900MHz balanced harmonic mixer for direct conversion receivers is fabricated in a 0.35 μm standard digital CMOS process. The self-mixing-induced DC offset is about 44dB lower than that of the conventional mixer. The inputreferred offset is reduced to the noise level. Specific techniques on flicker noise reduction are also discussed. At 3V power supply and -15.4dBm LO power, it achieves 13 dB ...
